Die Zeit um 1800 zeichnet sich nicht zuletzt dadurch aus, dass es eine Fülle an produktiven Schriftstellerinnen gab, von denen allerdings die meisten nicht in den Kanon aufgenommen wurden und zu Unrecht heute kaum mehr gelesen werden.
In dem Seminar soll gegenläufig dazu eine Reihe an Autorinnen mit Kurzgeschichten, Romanen, Briefen, Aufzeichnungen und Gedichten vorgestellt werden. Das Seminar soll damit einen Einblick in die vielfältigen Formen weiblichen Schreibens um 1800 ermöglichen und aufzeigen, wie entschlossen Autorinnen gegen die Vorgabe angeschrieben haben, Frauen seien nicht für eigentliche Kunstproduktion geeignet.

Charlotte von Schiller (1766-1826) - Literarische Schriften

Written Production II is part of Module EB6 (Consolidating C1/3 ECTS; requirements: a pass in EB 5.3 UV Written Production I) and revolves around the practice and theory of academic writing. This course is focused on certain genres (argumentative essays, description/descriptive texts, email of complaint, blog responses) with their typical registers. Participants will be given ample opportunity to put theory into practice through a number of writing tasks and written assignments.
Attainment Targets/Learning Outcomes:
· The students will acquire a wide range of stylistic expressions and devices in order to elegantly bridge their sentences, paragraphs and ideas when writing academic essays (argumentative) and descriptive texts.
· The students will learn how to paraphrase and summarize primary and secondary sources in an academically appropriate style, making expert use of dictionaries, thesauri and collocation dictionaries.
· The students will be able to express their ideas in an academically acceptable way, following the stylistic norms and conventions of the aforementioned genres.
· The students will learn to employ certain techniques when writing the text types central to our course (argumentative essay, email of complaint, descriptive text and blog response).
